Introducing us!
Greater Albion Typefounders has been established to do a little bit to overcome one of the many crises facing the world today. We (The Typefounders) can’t make a dent in global warming; we don’t know where to start with the Global Financial Crisis, but we thought we’d ‘have a bash at our own little bit of the crisis in design. To us, modern design all seems so bland. Sure, it works, sometimes it even works well. But there’s seldom a sense of style, seldom a hint of elegance unless you call severe blandness ’elegant simplicity’, which isn’t a line of thinking that ever impressed us. So we decided to do something about it- we decided to bring you new Typefaces that honor the spirit and style of the past. Want to be right up to date with a brand new typeface, but right in tune with the spirit of designers trained in classical ascetic values? Then why not try us and see what we have to offer. Try out one of our fonts today! You can find us on myfonts.com here.
Does the Opentype version of Sabio include old-style figures? According to MyFonts, the TTF does, but the OTF doesn’t! This sounds backwards to me.
Yes, old-style figures are included in the Opentype version of Sabio-not sure why Myfonts doesn’t indicate this, but they are there in all styles.
Dear Paul (Lloyd),
on a website I’ve found two beautiful fonts which I’d love to use in my new logo. When I tried to find out who designed these fonts, I realised that both of them (!) were made by you! Thank you so much! I’m talking about Penshurst and Radaern. Wonderful! Actually, I have the problem that I can’t decide between them…
Well, what I’d like to know: is there any possibiliy to get two additional letters of these fonts, included in the German alphabet? I need an “u” with two dots on top and also a letter which in Germany replaces “ss”, it does’n look like any other, so if you don’t know it…?
Maybe you’d like the idea that my new “business” will be a place where people can (re)learn the joie de vivre…
Sincerely
Bianca
Bianca,
I’m always happy to hear of my oolder freeware fonts being put to good uses. I’m quite happy to add the two characters you mention. I’ll e-mail hem to you once it’s done, though it might take me a few day to get it done,
All the best,
Paul.
Dear Paul,
i would not have dared to ask… I thought, there might be a version ‘out there’ and you could tell me how I could get it… incredible… thank you so much!
Well, I just talked to my logo designer. She needs a version for MAC, if that is possible.
Again: thanks a lot. My heart is full of joy!
