Old- and NewStyle Numerals…

We’re continuing work on the ‘Belle Jardin’ project – with some further refinement of the letter forms in light of reader feedback on here, some punctuation and the numerals completed.  We’ve decided to include both lining and old-style numerals .  Here’s what we’re thinking, firstly the lining numerals:

Coming in 2013….

We’ve been having great fun working on the letterforms for Brollo…a sort of ‘Roman but not quite’ display face, which we expect to release early in the new year.  Let’s hope you like its different character too!  We’re not sure where the name “Brollo” comes from, but somehow it seems to fit!

An Idea…

Here’s an idea for the future we’ve been toying with combining traditional and futuristic elements in one design.  We’re currently thinking of a name like ‘Linea’ for this, but if anyone has any better ideas, or suggestions generally? Click on this thumbnail to view a larger image.

A Minor (and very well intentioned) War-Cry…

We’ve just been putting the finishing touches to ‘Wolverton No.2′, unsurprisingly the second member of the Wolverton family.  We got to thinking…modern printing and display technologies, especially those with names like ‘Retina’ and so forth are ideal for displaying fine stroke widths and variations, so why are all the populist new typeface releases chunky sans-serif designs, or heavily seriffed faces with little contrast?  Therefore, we’ve decided to develop Wolverton with lower case forms as our idea for the next standard face- coming soon to a power point presentation near you perhaps- Wolverton Text?  Meanwhile, here’s a little call to arms for the supporters of good tasteful distinctiveness:
