Drawn from imagination, digital ink and watercolour sketch. Would be a nice place to sit out the pandemic in, I think…

      • GWR No.16 “Brunel”

Posted at 1:13 pm by gatf, on April 13, 2020
Image may contain: train, outdoor and sky

        My latest digital artwork…
GWR “Armstrong Class” 4-4-0 No.16 “Brunel” at Westborne Park in the middle 1890s, and just finished today with extra time on my hands due to the lockdown.
This painting is a high resolution digital painting made using tablet and stylus. The better quality drawing apps can produce surprisingly good results and be amazingly like the natural media paintings that I’ve done for decades.

An Australian ‘Federation’ (ie Edwardian) era cottage, sketched largely from imagination.  The sketch was done digitally with tablet and stylus. I’m still undecided which I prefer, the plain or coloured version.

      • Everything Right With the World

Digitally executed pencil and watercolour sketch. An imaginary UK Street Scene from a time when everything seemed to be right with the world, or so it feels now.

Just finished a painting of Industrial Britain, the Glass Factory at Gas Street Canal Basin in Birmingham, inspired by Paul Hayes’ 1990s photograph:
