For some time Greater Albion (i.e. me) has used a mixture of “Glyphs” and “Fontlab Studio 5” for font creation. Now I’ve taken the plunge and purchased a license for Fontlab VI. I think it’s going to be very powerful – in some ways it seems like a completely new editor, rather than an upgrade of Fontlab Studio – but there are always those ‘little’ things it takes you ages to work out how to do.
Still we’re getting there, meanwhile, here’s progress to date on the first project in this new editor:
Our Deco Metro project is moving along. We’ve just finished drawing glyphs for the regular face, 588 of them. Next there’s kerning to do, and then there’s the bold face. Meanwhile, here’s a preview:
Here’s our latest work in progress, a typeface with a distinctly calligraphic inspiration, to say the least. All feedback gratefully received while we contemplate this one for a while…
We’ve now sketched out full sets of upper- and lower-case letterforms for ‘Imperial Granum’. Still lots more work to do but taking shape nicely…..
